This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are goofy, passionate, enthusiastic, and true fighters. Not only does most of our student body come from Flint, MI where they are still struggling to receive clean water. My students still show up each day to learn the best they can, gain skills to make them life-long learners, and enjoy being children for the time they have in my class. I teach 7th/8th grade English, and I have the best job in the world.
Unfortunately, a lot of my students are not at grade level regarding reading or writing and my goals focus on creating students who want to invest in their education even outside of the classroom.
My Project
These items will allow my kiddos the comfortable space to take their reading books, group work, or even just accountable talk on the move in our room. The chairs will allow for my students to be comfortable sitting around our room and the caddies will allow them to take the things they need on the move as they get comfortable to learn.
A lot of my students need to be able to move outside of the 'traditional desk' setting and these items will help them stay organized and get moving around our room.
