Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
If you walk into my Spanish Dual Language classroom, you will see the faces of our future. Curious minds that are always asking questions, and multicultural citizens that are learning not only in English but also in Spanish.
There is so much magic happening in a first-grade classroom.
We are all learning together to be better people, to be smarter, kinder and of course... to be ourselves.
I want to give my students the opportunity to be the best they can be; to be proud of their culture, to believe in themselves and to not be afraid to make mistakes. They can turn these mistakes into learning experiences.
If you walk into my Spanish Dual Language classroom you will feel hope for the future
My Project
In a classroom, there is nothing more important than students taking ownership of their learning. There are many different components to achieve this, however, seating has always been an overlooked tool.
Traditional seating arrangements do not work any more.
Students need to have the opportunity to move to interact in the classroom and receive appropriate stimuli. Studies have shown that classrooms with flexible seating arrangements create a more engaging and student centered classroom. It also creates independence, a sense of community, and opportunities to make choices.
Our class, being a Dual Language class involves a lot of dancing, group work, presentations and independent work. Each one of these tasks require different seating and mobility.Flexible seating will be an important part of our daily learning when everyones needs can be met.
