Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students seek new and exciting resources to help feed and fuel their young minds. School today can have many challenges. My students come from a high poverty school district, and yet even with the many challenges they face at home, they always try their best with smiles on their faces each and every day.
Our students have big dreams and even bigger goals, and need all the positive support they can get.
We have many students from many different walks of life. Our students seek new and exciting resources to help fuel their young minds. With your help, we can make sure they have the materials for success and growth.
Our school was opened as an alternative site for low-income and English-learner students. Over 1/3 of our students are classified as English-language learners, and about 82 percent qualify for free and reduced meals. Our school, along with our entire district, qualify as Title I. Together, we can help educate, communicate, and cooperate with the students in our classroom and school.
My Project
Getting a futon with stools will provide a great look and feel for a colorful classroom. Not only are they fun and relaxing, but it gives my students choice. My students feel empowered when given choices in their education. Flexible seating has many benefits in the classroom--choice, movement, collaboration, and a sense of community. During different parts of our day, students will have the opportunity to find seating that will work best for them.
This flexible seating option will allow my students to have options around they classroom as they work, learn and collaborate with their neighbors.
By implementing flexible seating, students are more comfortable while working, they have positive attitudes towards learning which in turn show more academic growth. Students are also more eager to participate instead of feeling confined and uncomfortable working all day in a traditional desk and chair. Your donation will allow students to work in daily centers, work independently, and together in small groups around the classroom in a seating environment that is designed for a child's way of learning.
