My students need flexible seating to accomodate their needs in the classroom. These seats, especially the wobble chair, will really help some of them to be comfortable and focus while learning!
I work with an amazing group of kindergarten students. Our school is located in a city with one of the highest crime, poverty, and drop-out rates in our country. Many of my students come from homes where English is not their primary language, which can make learning in the classroom more difficult for some. Although it is quite away off for my young scholars, I want to see my students grow in our educational system and be able to attend college or trade school after successfully graduating from high school.
My goal is to build a foundation for my students in which they will be able to set goals for themselves that they can follow through with as they grow.
This starts with providing them with a safe and comfortable classroom environment in which they are free to learn. I want to show them all the great things that they can learn in school, from academics to social and life skills. I want my students to WANT to come to school each and every day, eager to learn and spend time with their peers.
My Project
As 5 and 6 year old kindergarten kids, a lot of our students have a lot of wiggles. It can become difficult for some of them to be able to focus if they are not comfortable while sitting. The flexible seating I have selected would allow the kids to sit comfortably to learn while doing carpet time, as well as while at their tables to complete work. The ability for them to have a seat that is more comfortable for them, giving them a little "wiggle room" can greatly help their focus and learning in class.
The flexible seating would allow students to be comfortable and safe while sitting at the carpet or at their tables.
The soft cushion seats would allow students to sit comfortably on the floor during carpet time. They allow some movement which is great for our kids who need to move around a little bit. The wiggle chairs are perfect for when students need to sit at their tables to work. They are able to move around a little without falling out of their chairs. This seating would be a welcome addition to our classroom!
