Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten classroom is filled with twenty-nine bright and eager to learn, English Language Learners. Ninety-seven percent of my scholars receive free or reduced priced lunch and one hundred percent of my scholars are minorities. My students come from at-risk homes, parents who work multiple jobs, or live in apartments filled with family members.
My scholars may have the odds against them, but in the classroom they put
100% into their education.
My kindergartners are kind-hearted, silly, fun, hard-workers, and become family to me.
My Project
Kindergarten has changed over the years. The days of playing during class time are gone. Students are expected to sit all day while learning in a chair or on a carpet square. Sitting all day in one position is very hard for four and five-year-olds, plus it is unhealthy. Kindergarteners need to move and wiggle throughout their day. My project is to supply my class with 4 balance ball chairs and 3 wobble stools to create a flexible seating classroom environment. My project will increase students’ movement abilities. Providing my students with balance ball chairs and wobble-stools will allow my students to move while learning throughout the day.
*Movement during school hours enhances students minds, provides motivation, helps them stay on task, and be engaged.Therefore with physical activity in the classroom students are retaining healthy habits to move, and create a successful educational journey.*
