Help me give my students the chance to explore flexible seating! Instead of my students being confined to a desk and chair, these cushions and seat will give them the opportunity to learn in a new environment!
My students come from a low-income area in Chicopee, MA. All of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a Title-One school due to the high percentage of low-income students. They are learning about responsibility and other social-emotional skills at school since many of them do not always have the opportunities to do so at home. Through the use of classroom tools and routines, I teach my students to take accountability for their learning and show them that they can be successful learners as well as in life.
My class is made up of twenty-five students who all have varying abilities in English Language Arts, Math, Writing, Social Studies, and Science.
This means that differentiated instruction is a must to make sure each student is able to learn at their own level. This involves a lot of special resources and tools that are not always available in a public school. As a teacher, it is my job to do everything in my power to help my students be successful learners. Thank you for helping to support my students become academic achievers!
My Project
Flexible seating has become a new wave in the modern day classroom. Gone are the days of students sitting at a desk and chair all day. I would love to give my students the ability to learn in a flexible setting where THEY can choose the seating that will help them be successful. Empowering students to select their own work area will allow them to take pride in their learning and give them the best chance to excel in the classroom!
All students deserve the opportunity to learn in the environment that works best for them!
This project would help my current classroom as well as many future first graders. I will be creating a classroom setting where students can foster creativity and learning.
