My third graders come from a multitude of backgrounds, cultures, and families. They are bright, fun, and love learning, and come with a wide range of strengths and abilities. Allowing them time to work individually and in groups, and providing them with comfortable and easily movable furniture, increases their opportunities for successfully working in ways that are most beneficial for them.
I would like technology and furniture to provide an engaging and flexible classroom that enables me to better reach each student at their academic and emotional level.
My Project
Children love working with technology. Teaching them proper keyboarding, basic coding ideas, and how to use a computer as part of their education, sets them up for future success with testing, academics and in their careers. We need a new Chromebook to allow more flexibility when a child wants to type their writing project, take a reading or math test, work on a math assignment, practice typing, or learn coding.
A set of six flexible floor chairs would allow students to read comfortably in a spot that works well for them, or to work in a group in a small circle that allows for easy communication.
