My students need alternative seating options in the classroom. They go to several classes a day and are sitting in hard and unforgiving seats for hours at a time. My class seeks to alleviate that!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a huge believer in Project Based Learning, but often we lack the resources to give our kids adequate supplies, and many do not come from backgrounds that will financially allow students to bring in their own supplies. I love creating a classroom where students feel safe, welcome, and comfortable. In order to do that, I have created flexible seating opportunities.
I have many first generation and immigrant students and I believe that helping keep them engaged and encouraged in their academic pursuits is the best way to help them create a successful future for themselves.
My Project
Students should be comfortable in their learning environments! I am seeking to build a classroom of flexible seating for my students with balance balls and bean bag chairs.
I want my students to feel welcome and safe in my room, as well as academically challenged.
I feel like giving them comfortable seating options will make them want to come to class and open up to learn. As an AP teacher, I expect a lot of my students academically, and I want them to know that they are always welcome to come through my door.
In my experience, if a student feels safe and welcome in a classroom, they will produce better work. I want my room to be a place where students know they can come for help, guidance, and compassion.
