Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 18 students in my classroom who live in a low income neighborhood in Modesto, CA. More than half of my students are English Language learners and benefit from hands on, minds on learning.
Students at my school do not have materials they need to succeed at home.
It is so important for me as their teacher to provide all the support and supplies they need to succeed. When my students come to school, they experience a welcoming and safe learning environment, which is my top priority.
My Project
In first grade we have a hard time sitting still and focusing at the same time, with flexible seating options it gives students the freedom to move while being able to put their focus on learning at the same time. The cushions will provide students a way to have not only a comfy chair, but be able to fidgit in the middle of learning.
Why make first graders sit still when they could be moving and learning at the same time!
Stress balls are something that my students absolutly love! Currently we have 3 in our classroom and we trade off which student gets to use them each week, with a larger amount of stress balls, we can make sure each student has one and able to squeeze it during learning times.
