My Students

In order for students to be successful in school they need teachers who are not only passionate about their job of teaching but are willing to go above and beyond to make their students’ learning environment feel like a home.

My students are in first grade and attend a public school in Maine.

Some of my students come from a high poverty area where the resources that they need are not always available. My students love to come to school, and my goal is to provide an environment where they feel safe and loved!

My Project

Who wants to sit in the same assigned seat all day? Not me and not my first graders-what six year old likes to sit still? My classroom is filled with energetic first graders. I encourage a lot of movement in my classroom through brain breaks and with moving around the limited open areas of our classroom that we have available. My students need scoop rockers and wobble chairs to be able to move while they work. They will be able to find quiet spaces around the classroom, set up their work space, and become more engaged in their assignment.

My students will be using the flexible seating options daily.

Having a variety of seating options will allow students the choice to sit wherever they want in the classroom and focus on their learning. Scoop rockers and wobble chairs will allow students to have more seating options in the classroom versus the typical chair. Having alternative seating in the classroom will allow students to find a comfy and relaxed spot where they can sit and enjoy their independent assignment time.
