My Students

I have a wonderful group of first grade students this year. They are a unique and fun group that range from the overly exuberant to shy and sweet. They are creative, active and enthusiastic. I truly love this group of students. We have a lot of fun together learning how to read, write, do math, science and learning to be life long learners. This group of first graders are a shining light during a time when our world needs a little sunshine. We are ready to learn.

My Project

I have noticed that my students are very similar to me. They prefer to move around throughout the day. They wiggle, shake, stand and stretch throughout the day. The chairs we have in our class do not offer very many options for moving and grooving while staying on task and learning. I recently borrowed a couple of different seating options from another teacher.

While using these different seating options I have noticed my students are able to focus and stay in their chairs for longer.

They also seem happier.

This project will offer my first graders a variety of seating choices to use during the day to help them learn in a way that works best for each individual. We would like to get wobble chairs to use at our desks and scoop chairs to use on the carpet.

My students and I would like to thank you in advance. We are so excited to get these in our classroom and start using them.
