My students from MP attend a school committed to teaching the whole child and developing 21st century skills. This culturally and socioeconomically diverse group of students engages in data driven differentiated instruction and project based learning.
The fifth graders in my class are ferocious readers that devour my book shelves.
They give it their all in every endeavour and ask questions as we explore the curriculum. Communication, collaboration, and creativity are the bedrock for most of what we do each day.
My Project
By donating to this project, you will help my students to have flexible seating choices. Not every student learns best in a rigid seat and desk. The exercise ball chairs will help fidgety students to focus and keep their core strong. Often times "bouncy students" can be distracting, but I for one want to embrace the bounce and normalize movement in class.
Adding big pillows to the reading nook will help students to get comfortable as they become lifelong readers.
I allow students to read where they are comfortable and right now the carpet is thin and the concrete beneath is not forgiving.
The last addition to our flexible seating is my favorite, the comfy floor seats. These will allows students to work comfortably in any location that they can be carried. These will be wildly popular in the reading nook. The more comfortable a student is in the space can radically affect their success.
