My school is based in a lower income community. We have a high number of students who are on free and reduced lunch. With that being said, our district is trying to provide these students with things at school that they wouldn't receive at home. Currently are district is looking for new and innovative ways to teach our students. We have started a new personalized learning programs that has worked WONDERS for our kids. We have 70 kids who are currently in the program and who have showed significant gains in a years worth of instruction. This is a program that we feel very strongly about and our data has proven that it works much better than the general classroom setting. We are currently coming to an end of our first year and have so many neat ideas for our upcoming school year. We will be growing the program by over 100 kids next year, which is why we need your help!
My Project
My students need balancing bouncy balls for their independent reading center. My students work in individualized small groups all day. When I am working with a group of students I have other students who read independently in the reading center. Sometimes students in the reading center have trouble focusing because of the noise or movement in other parts of the room.
I believe that bouncing balls in the reading center will help the students to focus on their reading.
My students have really gained a love for reading this year and they love having the time to read on their and take a break from their day.
