My Students

I teach 21 amazing kindergarteners. They are resilient and determined to succeed. They have been through the ups and downs of the pandemic and continue to have unbelievable enthusiasm and curiosity when it comes to school and learning. They know how to find joy in the smallest moments during our days. My classroom procedures have been adjusted over the last year and a half in order to limit the sharing of student supplies and to allow us take more time to sanitize hands, tables, and materials. As we work to help each other stay healthy and safe at school, we have also worked to maintain a classroom environment where everyone feels welcome and encouraged to learn and grow.

These incredible kids are resolute and consistent in their efforts to meet their academic and social goals this year.

They impress me every single day!

My Project

My students need lots of independent and guided practice with the basic literacy and math skills that are so essential for them to learn in kindergarten. This practice requires a variety of learning materials for centers and small group instruction. In order for my students and I to use these materials effectively and efficiently, they need to be organized. This organization cart will make it easy for all of us to find and use the materials needed for engaging learning and practice opportunities. The drawers will also allow for easy sanitation of materials.

Flexible seating allows students to take ownership of their learning by choosing where they can do their best work.

Students are motivated by choice! These flexible seating options would give my students the opportunity to work comfortably in a variety of locations around the room. Students will be able to spread out around the room and to move into spaces where they can work more independently and with less disruption from their peers. These flexible seatings offer needed variety and are all easy to clean and sanitize, which are incredibly important features especially in light of COVID-19.
