Flexible Seating For Engaging Non Traditional Learners!

My 3rd Grade class is made of students with very different learning styles. When working, most of my students will sit in their chair at their desks and learn in the traditional way, but I’ve noticed that others learn better when they stand up, lie down, or lean in a corner of the room. Some of them like to get together with a group on the floor and work cooperatively on math, science, or other projects. I also have several students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder who have a hard time staying focused while seated at a traditional desk. I would like to provide differential or alternative seating for my students in order to promote their learning abilities. Schweitzer Elementary is located in a quiet middle to lower middle class neighborhood, which means we don’t get any extra funding from the state or Federal governments. Although our wonderful PTA is working hard at assisting us with field trips and classroom supplies, we still need additional help when it comes to getting more expensive items like alternatives seating for the classroom. Your generous donation will definitely help in providing these creative options for my non-traditional learners. Thank you!
