Help me give my students four comfy floor seats, three exercise ball chairs, and five wobble stools to create a more flexible and comfortable learning environment.
I teach second grade in a rural community. My students come to school energetic and ready to learn every day! They enjoy movement and hands-on activities! It is hard for most of them to stay engaged while sitting in a hard, uncomfortable chair all day. They often get fidgety and restless. I would like the opportunity to offer them flexible seating options that will make them more comfortable while they are learning!
A comfortable learning environment will lead to more student engagement, which means more success!
My Project
My students come to school full of life and ready to learn! Just like adults get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day, students do too! They need more flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. Studies show that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable.
Some of the seating options that will be provided with this project are floor seats, wobble stools, and exercise balls.
All of these options will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around. They can recline on the floor in a soft chair while reading, wiggle around on a stool while working independently, or bounce on an exercise ball to get their wiggles out, all while learning!
This project will significantly help my students stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom. I can't wait to see how flexible seating creates happier, more engaged students!
