Flexible Seating for Engaged Learners! Enhance the Classroom Comfort!
Help me give my students a comfortable place in the classroom to enrich their learning. The bean bags and wobble chairs give students a chance to remain engaged while getting the wiggles out!
My students are going to be learning both Science and Social Studies in my classroom. Many of them have trouble focusing on some days, especially when they visit the same classroom twice a day for 2 subjects. While in science, the learning is much more hands-on but when it is time for social studies, that hands -on portion is harder to achieve on a daily basis.
Many of my 8th grade kids need movement and find it difficult to sit still especially during "traditional" social studies lessons.
I am trying to provide seating options the students in my diverse classroom can use to remain engaged and focused.
My Project
I am a first year 8th grade science and social studies teacher. It is hard to collect all of the necessary things for a classroom in such a short amount of time with a limited budget. This project will give my students a chance to feel more confident in the classroom because flexible seating offers a place to relax while remaining engaged. The rugs will give the zone an extra level of comfort when spread out on the tile floor.
Flexible seating has become a growing trend in the educational field for all of the right reasons.
Many students need to move around during the class period in order to stay motivated and focused on the content being presented.
It would be fantastic to provide a zone in the classroom where my students can move around and not distract the people around them. The wobble seats help many students get rid of the wiggles while at their desks. The chosen bean bag chairs are memory foam which means the students can move around during the class period without being heard.
