My students need more flexible seating options such as these flex-space comfy floor seats suitable for working so close to the ground! This will give my students a chance to work in groups comfortably!
Although education is provided to millions of children across the county, the quality they receive is not equal. As a fourth-grade math teacher, not only do I have to prepare them for middle school and beyond, but teach them the curriculum as well. I teach at a rural elementary school in North Carolina where almost 75% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Many of my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and their only safe place is at school.
As a beginning teacher, I am still trying to accumulate resources that will benefit the learning of my students. Public school teachers in the state of North Carolina are towards the bottom of the rankings for annual salaries. This being said, using money out of pocket for my students is a challenge. Making my students feel safe and comfortable at school is my top priority. Therefore, having a safe and inviting classroom that "feels like home" is very important to both me and my students. Once my students have a classroom that feels safe and inviting, they will be able to focus more on their work.
My Project
Having a classroom filled with desks and chairs is not very exciting for students to come into. I would love to continue to incorporate flexible seating so my students can work comfortably at school. The flex-space comfy floor seats will provide my student someone else to work other than their desks or the cold, hard floor.
Every student deserves a classroom where they are comfortable working.
Having the comfy floor seats will be a great alternative to a normal desk chair or just sitting on the floor. Research shows that classrooms with flexible seating produce students who learn better. This is mostly due in part to the fact that they are able to focus on their work, not their comfort. I would love for my students to have some alternative seating options to help their academics improve.
