My Students
I teach in a small suburb in northeast, Ohio where we have long, cold winters and often get stuck indoor for recess. Our classroom becomes like a second home to many of the fourth graders that I teach.
My students are kind, creative and enthusiastic learners who come from thoughtful families and the parent support where I am lucky enough to teach is tremendous.
I have two sections of fourth grade students which winds up being forty-seven children who all use my classroom space. They would love having some better options for seating.
My Project
We go from whole group instruction to independent work time. My students like to sit in different places in my classroom. At present, there really isn't anywhere comfortable for them to go. For my project, I chose six comfortable floor seats and a small seat to put in our class library.
Flexible seating options would encourage collaborative learning to take place for my students.
Seating for our library also would benefit students who would use the space for silent reading time. This would definitely improve their school lives. I am excited to hopefully provide these resources for them. I know they would be grateful too.
