Flexible Seating for Busy Bodies and Focused Minds
Help me give my students different seating choices (like the stand up table in which case some of my students can't sit for long) and different objects that will keep their hands busy but their minds focused.
Everyone can learn but not everyone learns the same way. My students are incredible students but they don't always thrive in a normal school setting. These students are behind on their credits needed to graduate and we are trying to get them back on track. They need extra assistance, they need different seating choices, they need something to keep them focused and they need to see someone willing to help. They are in a district that values academics and can miss average or below-average students because the district has so many high achieving students.
As a community, this is where we come in.
We are working together to get students back on track to graduate on time. These students are sometimes burnt out and we want to help them get back on track. These students sometimes feel left behind and that no one cares for them. Together, we can make them feel connected and know that they can achieve graduation just like their peers.
My Project
My students are trying to complete as many classes as they can on an online learning site with the help of their teacher (me!). Sitting at a hard desk throughout the day isn't supportive of their learning. By giving them different seating choices we are giving them incentives to get their work done. The different fidget toys allow the students to also keep their hands busy while focusing on finishing their classes.
Our goal is GRADUATION!
As long as they are on track to getting everything done they get to sit (or stand) in these amazing flexible seats. The seats are to get the students focused off of their atmosphere and on to their work. These seats also give them the opportunity to switch things up every day.
