My Students

Our school ranges from K-5th grade students. We have on average about 300 students school-wide. There is a wide mix of ethnicities in our building. Our school is part of a low socioeconomic community making it difficult to ask parents and community members to donate more to our school.

Students love to learn about Computer Science and Library lessons with me, but sitting still is really hard on kids.

Giving them flexible seating that lets them move helps them focus on what they need to do. I would love to give them options when it came to their seating choice that will help them focus while they learn.

My Project

I teach Computer Science and Library skills. So both technology and literacy. I see all the students in our building from kindergarten thru 5th grade students. I love teaching both of these subjects and students enjoy coming to me to learn something new and different from the regular classroom teachers.

Students have a hard time staying focused while learning.

Giving students flexible seating helps them get wiggles out and helps them to stay focused. I dislike telling kids to stop rocking in their chairs. However, rocking in their chairs breaks the chairs and are unsafe for students. I would rather get them chairs that are made to let them move safely.

Flexible seating is helpful for students learning and for the teachers ability to teach, while keeping them safe.
