My Students

My students are not verbal. We have to encourage them to communicate in different ways. Some of my students are learning to communicate with signs and gestures; other students are learning to communicate with picture exchanges.

For academic learning, I try to do a lot of exploration play.

My students function at different developmental levels, so exploration and curiosity are my best tools in education. I want to allow my students to have more exploration learning in the area of science, math, and language.

My Project

My students need flexible seating options to allow them to fully access their learning. We sit for circle time on a rug or around a table. I like to give my student's the best option for independence. I have students who struggle to sit on the rug, but who I would like to learn to sit independently. These chairs will give students another option for sitting independently without have to sit at a table. A variety of sensory options and chair options give my students the best chance to learn the skill of sitting independently without adult prompting or help.
