Ms. Ramminger from Birmingham AL is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students access to flexible seating such as bean bag chairs, comfortable rug seating, and lap desks to ensure learning is still happening.

Before I can tell you about my students, I need to tell you about me. I'm a first-year teacher in a brand new city and a brand new community. Everything in me thought that I'd be an outsider within my school, but because of how amazing my students are that has never been the case. My students are welcoming, kind, inspiring, and engaged middle schoolers. Despite the fact that many of them come from low-income backgrounds, they are generous beyond compare. They are aware of their circumstances and demand better for themselves and for their futures. At one point during this year while talking about college and my career choices I had a student ask me, "Ms Ramminger, if you could have taught anywhere, why are you HERE?" My students are incredible, resilient, and hardworking young adults and they deserve an environment that doesn't make them question why anyone would choose to be there.
Every day, my students come to school ready to learn, but their space is not always ready to support them. We often suffer from broken desks, lack of space for seating, or insufficient flexibility in our furniture to support engaging and collaborative lessons. To encourage engagement and excitement in my students, I am hoping to provide them with a classroom full of flexible seating options. Our school just received a grant that will allow students access to technology that allows them to better steer their own learning and differentiate to their level. This tech will allow for a much greater amount of group work and partner work, meaning that my classroom is in need of spaces that cater to these new and exciting activities. More than anything, I want my students to feel comfortable in my classroom. After all, comfortable students can focus more on learning and less on their broken, stuffy desks.
