Each day, I am fortunate to greet fifteen unique personalities at the door, eager and ready to embark on a new adventure!
Our class is filled with laughter, collaboration, and learning.
Our classroom is made up of seven and eight-year-old students who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. They are able to come together to share their experiences and perspectives. Their natural curiosities are easily explored through a number of different tools. My students continuously challenge me, allowing me to learn and grow each and every day.
My Project
Flexible seating will change the classroom experience for my students. Having these options in the classroom will allow students to make important choices in their education by being in control of the environment that best supports their learning. Having these different types of seating will allow for students who struggle to stay still to better focus on their work in the classroom. Floor seats and wobble cushions will allow for students to easily move their seats around the classroom. This will give them ample opportunities for grouping and collaboration while also offering a students a seating option that differs from that of the traditional classroom.
With these resources, students will be able to better collaborate and become more dynamic learners.
Having a variety of learning spaces inside one classroom will be incredibly beneficial to children who require movement and those who require stability. Students who work best with others will benefit and so will students who work best when seated away from others. Flexible seating is one of best ways to differentiate learning for my students, and these resources will allow me to do just that.
