My elementary school is located in the heart of downtown Cary, NC. Our academic community strives to provide students with opportunities to create learner agency and choice in all aspects of their day! Our students are hard-working and enthusiastic children who would benefit from flexible seating options within out classroom.
As you walk into my classroom students are engaged everyday in a variety of learning activities with choices in seating, partnerships and instruction to suit their learning styles and interests.
Increasing flexible seating options within my classroom would help my students feel more comfortable, valued, and motivated!
My Project
Flexible seating will enhance my students' learning by allowing them to freely choose and adapt to their own learning environment. Already incorporating several research based seating options in my classroom, adding the floor pillows and seat cushions will give students more choice, as well as provide all students with an option to sit in an area that best suits their learning needs.
Flexible seating will allow all students to strive for excellence each day at school, while also giving them the autonomy to choose a "good choice seat" to help them do their best within the classroom!
The floor pillows and seat cushions will provide students the opportunity to feel more comfortable during independent reading time.
