Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently have 98 students. They are from all corners of the globe. I teach both general ed students, students with learning disabilities and those with more advanced learning disabilities. The classroom currently is FILLED with desks and tables. Our lessons require us to move around, work collaboratively and at times independently. The students needs vary greatly. Some require frequent breaks from sitting, some require specialized seating to help them focus. All students require adequate work spaces to interact, read, write and record.

My Project

I teach 4 sections of 8th grade social studies. Within my classes, I teach GenEd and SpEd students. Many of my students struggle with attention.

Flexible seating will allows my students with attention issues the opportunity to find seating that works for them, without singling them out.

It also will help break up the classroom to allow students to find a work environment that best suits their learning needs and styles. Including 22 seats allows almost all students choice seating and allow all students to reach their full potential. Students can choose from floor seats, bungee chairs or stools at tables.
