Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my classroom involves students learning in various locations and spots throughout the classroom. Students have opportunities to find spaces in the classroom where they feel comfortable and ready to learn. Some examples of these seating arrangements are bean bag chairs and stools.
I teach 21 students in a diverse, Title One school in Charlotte, North Carolina.
All of my students have a lot of energy and a passion to dive into their learning. This is my first year teaching second graders. They are friendly, social, curious and active! Our school has adopted a "Personalized Learning" approach, where students help choose the course of their learning. Not all students are alike, so students have personalized resources that put them on a course to learn at their pace, while still teaching the standards and requirements.
My Project
Second graders are so excited and eager to learn! These innovative stools will allow their little bodies to move while reading, writing, solving math equations and working with their classmates!
Children want to move, and they learn a lot by moving their bodies.
We do many little "brain breaks" throughout the day to allow the students to be active and have moments to move through learning. Sometimes that is just not enough! More than ever, this class loves to move while learning, so I know these stools will be a great addition to our classroom. These Hokki stools and wobble chairs will allow the students to "wiggle" without disruptions and learn even better than before!
