I teach in a Dual Language Kindergarten; a Title 1 school where more than 60% of the students and their families live in poverty. Some of them face different challenges in their homes, but in our class, these kindhearted students accept and support each other.
In our room, you will find a diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and abilities, but all students have great potential and greatness.
Despite their limitations, these bilingual students are enthusiastic, dedicated, and excited to learn, both in English and Spanish.
Children need to move. Flexible seating lets them wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand while they learn. It also allows students to choose where they work and with whom. My kindergarten students will be able to choose where to sit according to their needs. These options will help them feel active, engaged, and enthusiastic.
The lap desks will be used for writing activities.
Stools, wobble chairs, and pillows will allow them to sit at different levels and group with other students. The bouncing bands will help them move and stay active. The result will be relaxed, focused and successful students!
