I teach in an urban Montessori school. My students are kindergartners and preschool age. They are very energetic and excitied for learning. I would like to offer my students the ability to move while working in the classroom. There is movement in Montessori environment but this would allow the students who are working on longer lessons the ability to move while continuing to work. I also feel that this may help the few students I have with adhd and add.
My Project
I am a public Montessori teacher who would like to offer flexible seating for my Childrens House classroom. This type of seating will allow my students the ability to take charge of their learning. They will be able to choose a lesson and then find a location that best suits their needs. The choices will be chairs, floor mats, yoga balls and different table sizes etc. My students are very active and love learning each and everyday.
I want to make sure that they have the very best environment, so that they can grow and learn at their own abilities.
I also want them to have the resources they need in order to flourish. I feel that flexible seating will give them the autonomy to find the right type of seating that makes them feel comfortable and happy.
