My kindergarten students are thoughtful, curious, empathetic and enthusiastic about learning! Each student in my classroom is a unique learner, who is eager to learn new things. They come to school each day excited and ready make new discoveries about the world around them. My class loves to play outside, learn new games and read nonfiction books!
My goal is to create a community of collaborative learners throughout the year that will both support and challenge each other.
Each student is motivated by different things and have different learning styles so I try to incorporate lots of different teaching strategies to ensure that my student’s needs are met.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Currently, during independent centers (Daily 5), my students choose their own activity at their specific center and choose the spot in which to do their work. Making sure students are comfortable is key in motivating them. I have noticed that my students are more engaged and focused on their activities during their independent center time than they are during daily work at their desks. I am hoping that when given multiple seating choices they are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desks. Children are not meant to be still all day long. They need flexibility & movement.
I have seen how giving my students a choice can affect their work and behavior in a positive way and I hope that the additional options will help us even more!
The wobble stools will be beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The floor cushions will allow for additional comfortable floor seating. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
