This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I love seeing the smiling faces of my third-grade students each day as I walk into school. I work in a Title One school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite the challenges they face outside of school, students come to our school excited to learn and need the tools that will help them reach their goals.
I focus on creating a community in my classroom where students feel safe, secure and motivated to learn. My goal is to provide a classroom where students feel comfortable in a positive learning environment.
My Project
Research states that there is a connection between movement and a child's ability to learn! Although I have many students who are eager to learn, many 8 and 9-year-old students in my class struggle with focus.
Flexible Wobble Cushions and Yoga Balls will allow students to exercise their abdominal, back and leg muscles while allowing an outlet for their boundless energy!
With this project funded, students will have their choice of flexible seating instead of uncomfortable, plastic seats. Students will be given a choice in where they pick to sit for the day or week. Giving student choice allows students to take ownership of their education because they are given the opportunity to make choices in how they can best succeed.
