My kindergarten students are ambitious 21st century learners, who are eager to engage in hands-on activities that promote a curriculum rich in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
My kindergarten students come primarily from low-income families where over 50% qualify for free or reduced price lunch.
Many of the children in my classroom are English language learners or come from military families.
Kindergarten students are curious about everything around them. Each one comes to school ready and willing to learn but many do not have the resources and support necessary to reach their full learning potential. Our school is located in a rural community in southwestern Arizona.
My kindergarten students receive instruction in a traditional setting of tables and chairs daily; many students struggle to stay focused. As adults we move about the workplace all day long. I want to begin preparing my students to succeed in the workforce by offering them a variety of seating arrangements, in our classroom, that work best for their individual learning styles. Wobble chairs will provide one of these workspace options.
As learners of the 21st Century, it is important that students have hands-on learning opportunities and are knowledgeable in the world around them.
Log Builders Master Sets will assist my young students with STEM lessons, through independent or team creations, to describe their step-by-step processes and building ideas. TIME for Kids will keep my students current in world affairs but at a comprehension and illustration level they can understand. Students who can present their ideas to their classmates are said to have learned instructional content to mastery. Having colored ink, available to my students, will provide a means for them to display pictures and reports and share their projects with their peers.
Your generous donation to our classroom project will provide materials to improve the focus and attention of my young learners. Young students are very impressionable, they learn by doing. Hands-on materials will help to foster academic success, of each of my students, by providing them materials at their developmental level. I truly need your support to help make this project request a reality for my students. Thank You!
