My Students

Every day, during independent workstations, my students get to choose the space where they will work best. Providing options for students and giving them ownership over their seating in the classroom helps them to stay focused and be productive.

I have the privilege of teaching one general curriculum class and one gifted cluster class, totaling 50 students.

Both classes are made up of students who are eager to learn and full of energy. Our school is located in a suburban area and is a great community school.

My Project

Students learn best when they are comfortable and feel ownership in the classroom. With many options for seating and work areas, students can find the learning area that works best for them. Students will sit at the tall table with bar stools or workbench to read and complete work daily. With these materials, students will get to choose alternative seating that will help them feel more comfortable and more productive.

When students feel safe in the classroom environment and a strong sense of classroom community they are more willing to participate, put in an effort, and take risks.

More seating options will be perfect for those students who need to move to maintain focus throughout the day.
