My Students

As a teacher in a low-income neighborhood, my students are faced with many challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. My job is to make the students feel safe, supported, and successful.

My students love opportunities to collaborate, problem solve, and learn from one another.

In all, my students speak eight different home languages, which makes our classroom diverse and special! To go along with their diverse backgrounds, they have different learning styles and each student deserves the tools to help themselves become successful.

My Project

Flexible seating options help students in many different ways. It gives students choice, which makes them feel empowered. Students feel more calm, productive, and focused on the task at hand.

I want my students to build community by sharing wobble chairs and floor seat options and working in pairs or in small groups.

My students have already started taking ownership of the classroom and are more invested in their learning. These options will only increase student engagement and productivity.

My students will use these seating options to collaborate and problem solve. Ultimately, the flexible seating options will make learning fun and will encourage students to work together as a community.
