This is my second year teaching first grade. My students are learning how to be independent!
We are a Title I school, meaning many of our students come from poverty-stricken homes.
Some of them do not have parental support at home after school. Therefore, they are excited to come to school and learn. I love bringing them new and exciting ways to learn.
Your funding will help them learn interactively about phonics, addition, and shapes. These are very needed skills for them to be successful.
My Project
I have been slowly working to build our flexible seating options. It seems to really help my students if they have a choice in their seating. My students seem to be more productive and task centered when they have an option to their seating.
Flexible seating allows them to wiggle while they work!
This ensures that they have a safe time and place to get some of their movement out. Listening is a learned skill. Many of my students are working hard to listen. I have found that if they are able to wiggle at non listening times they are more focused when it is time to listen.
