This fall I will have 25 students in my class with very different personalities and learning styles. I want to continue to focus on individual needs by implementing a blended learning approach for my students so each child can learn at their level and grow to his or her fullest potential.

Kids at this age are creative and imaginative, full of wonder, excited about learning new concepts and ideas, and and open to friendships. In my opinion, 4th grade is the best grade to teach.
Research has proven that the blended learning approach creates optimal learner engagement. In order to create the best learning environment for my students, I'd like to offer different seating preferences other than our rather typical desk and chair. My current students, as well as future students, will benefit greatly with this project.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning style by making choices which work best for each of them. During individual or small group work time in various subject areas, students will often choose to move around the classroom. Currently their options are to sit in the same desks with the same chairs, grab a spot on the floor, or crowd around my small group table. I want to motivate my students by making different seating options available to them while building a collaborative classroom environment that centers around community and learning.
Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component to student engagement.
There are big differences in my student's level of motivation and behavior when they are given a choice in where they sit. They tend to get more work completed when they have special spots in the classroom to either focus on their own or to sit and learn from one another in pairs or a small group setting than when they are just sitting at their individual desks.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. This coming school year they'll have options such as sitting at a low table on yoga cushions, around a kidney shaped table on stools, having wiggle seats and stability balls for movement, use chairs that safely support laptops and technology, centers for working in pairs and groups, comfy chairs for relaxing and decompressing, and even places to stand and learn if they'd like!
