My class consists of energetic and motivated learners. Each day I look forward to seeing there excitement as they master a new concept or meet with success on a new challenge. My students ages range from 6 to 8. I am a special education teacher who works with first grade and second grade students. I have always taught from different places in my room and encouraged student movement. This year I embraced trying flexible seating with my students. I took baby steps and now want to jump into it entirely.
Students feel empowered given the choice to pick their own seat for learning.
It has been amazing to watch students select seats based on their own individual learning needs. My students have embraced this new type of seating and really need flexible seating to maximize their learning.
My Project
My class has all types of learners. They benefit from different types of seating. Students learn best when they are comfortable and relaxed. My students need the options of wobble chairs, bean bags, and wobble cushions to help them succeed.
Flexible seating increases student motivation, engagement in lessons, and promotes positive behavior.
I want to be able to continue the flexible classroom I started to share with my students.
