Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school which means ninety percent or more students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My students are from low income households where most come from non-English speaking parents.
Sadly, many of my students have failed third grade already and began this school year with minimal resources.
Despite the hardships they endure, my students are eager to come to school to learn every day.
They enjoy participating, working collaboratively and motivating each other to work hard; however, they are very limited on their access to technology. Together, with a little push and help, I am confident our class will succeed and surpass expectations! None of us is as strong as all of us!
My Project
My class is made up of a diverse group of students. Even though my students are diverse, right now my classroom is not. I want to allow students the opportunity to choose where they sit; however, the options are limited to desks and chairs alone.
Research has shown that flexible seating allows students to engage in the learning process better.
With flexible seating, students can choose where they sit and how, as long as they are safe. Your donation to this project will allow my students to begin to see a flexible seating arrangement in the classroom. I can’t wait to see their faces when they get to decide where and how they would like to learn daily.
