Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend elementary school just outside of Washington, D.C. in a diverse suburb. Our school's population comes from many diverse backgrounds. Manyof the student's supplies are provided by myself or the school.
While my students do not ask for much, I want to be able to provide them with tools to be successful in their learning.
I hope to provide resources that inspire classroom engagement, problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity! As kindergarten students, many of these students will just be beginning their educational journey. I hope to spark a passion for learning for each child.
My Project
My students come to school full of life and ready to learn! Just like adults get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day, students do too! They need more choice and flexibility in their seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. Studies show that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. My students will be given the choice to bounce, wiggle, sit, stand, kneel, etc. with this project.
Flexible seating is becoming a more and more popular decision for younger learners.
This project will allow my kindergartners to be able to choose how they will complete tasks throughout the day. Some of the seating options are wobble stools, comfy cushions. All of these options will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning.
