Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At our school, all students are valued as important individuals. We are a school in Victoria Independent School District and we are a Title I school. We have formed a very tight bond and community with one another through the tragedy of Hurricane Harvey. Some of the kindergarten and first grade students were severely impacted and are now considered homeless because of it's destruction.
Our desire as a staff is to be the best educator I can be to provide these children with hands-on experiences and learning opportunities that may empower them to become lifelong learners.
My Project
Flexible seating is exactly what it sounds like. It is seating that is flexible. It allows students to make choices about what seats will work best for them. Flexible seating does not mean that students will "roam" around the room all day long. They are still responsible for quality work. Flexible seating does not take away structure from the classroom. It simply allows students to feel comfortable at school and therefore be more open to learning and listening. Flexible seating improves their school lives because it allows them to feel comfortable in a school setting. Flexible seating will provide my students with the opportunity to have choice and some control over their learning environment, which helps them feel empowered and take ownership of their learning.
Whenever students feel comfortable in a school environment, they are going to be more excited and open to learn which will lead to making a huge difference in their learning.
The flex-space floor seats will allow my students to feel more comfortable in the school environment. The lap desks will allow those students who choose to sit on the floor and discs seats something to bear down on so that they are able to complete their quality work.
