This project was created by a student in my homeroom. All of the following writing was developed by my 5th grade student, Ricky G. We, the students are very kind to other students in, above, and below our grade level. Our class is very focused and determined.
Our class always strives to do our best!
We are very helpful to one another. We have jobs arranged to help around the room because multiple brains are better than one. We are always friendly to one another and share stories when there’s time. We do many fun activities that are voted on by students. We are even planning on helping out more than just around the school.
My Project
I take the position that the Flex Space Lounge and Learn Couch should be in our classroom.
The Flex Space Lounge Couch should be in our classroom because it would help students collaborate.
Creating an inviting physical space... "promotes student creativity and collaboration” according to a school furniture company. The couch has enough space to fit three students. The students sitting on the couch are put close together. When students sits at separate desks this can prevent them from being able to easily work together. These groups are important because they make a student’s work easier by getting help from other students.
A second reason this couch should be in our classroom is that it isn’t too giant, so it wouldn’t over-crowd an entire room. “With the right options, flexible seating can be done in any size classroom” according to Edutopia, and right they are! In some situations, classrooms aren’t big enough, so you can’t fit large furniture. This couch is the perfect option because it’s not too big, meaning you still have enough space to put other things in the room. The couch is big enough so that it can fit multiple people.
The final reason this chair should be in our classroom is that it has many more purposes other than collaboration and size. Children need to calm themselves down after hard activities, and couches, such as this one, have the ability to calm students down. This is because the couch is made of a soft and cool material. After calming down, the couch would let you concentrate better on school activities instead of being distracted on an uncomfortable chair.
