Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a Title I school. Over 85% of the students receive free or reduced lunches. I teach 4th and 5th grade gifted language arts.
My students are high energy, just like most 4th and 5th grade students.
These students are motivated to learn despite some of the struggles that go on outside of school for them. I want to offer my students an amazing classroom that is inviting and full of choices. My goal is to create a home away from home that promotes a place of learning, community and love.
My Project
My students need a cube organizer, lap desks and storage bins to solve organization issues regarding their supplies and to enhance the clutter free, flexible seating atmosphere. I want to build upon my last Donor's Choose project. I am well on my way to transforming my classroom into a comfortable, stimulating learning environment. The atmosphere in my class is one that has been described as inviting and unique. I am now trying to enhance the comforts with organization.
I am hoping to incorporate the storage cube organizer with the fabric cubes to allow for storage for the students notebooks, etc.
This will allow me to begin removing desks from our classroom, and make space for more carpet seating. My students love relaxing on the carpet with their lap desks, and comfy chairs. I would like to remove more desks and create other areas in our classroom with unique sitting areas. This is how I will use the two requested inflatable chairs ad the standing desk as well. I have a few students that don't want to sit at all, so I want to incorporate something for this type of learner as well.
