Help me give my students this comfortable seating. The seating will help all of the kindergarten students at our school to increase their learning potential while also getting their wiggles out.
But sitting at a table all day is tough for the typical five-year-old. They should curl up in a comfy seat to read their favorite books. They should be able to stretch their legs or stand to create their own first stories or pieces of art.
Optimal learning should be done in a comfortable environment that feels like home.
Our students come to us with a variety of skill levels, but they are excited for school. The transition to kindergarten can be a big adjustment for some students. We want to create an environment where all students feel the comfort of home like a warm hug from mom.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their table.
The flexible seating will allow us to create a cozy atmosphere where children can engage in great discussions to learn from their peers.
A major part of Kindergarten is to give students time to learn how to socialize with his/her peers. Flexible seating will give the children a variety of seating options to feel comfortable while learning. The flexible seating will also allow the students to get wiggles out while learning.
