Flexible Seating Choices That Accelerate Student Learning!!
My students need the backless balance ball chairs, stability stools, and other learning supports. This will allow them to focus intently on learning activities and create more of a love of learning!
My students need a flexible learning environment that will increase their ability to learn. I would like to have learning spots that allow students a choice of seating. My students are eight and nine year old boys and girls.We are truly a heterogeneous group: Talented and Gifted, ESL, Dyslexic, and Dysgraphia identified students. All of them are excited to learn and wish to expand their thinking and experiences in our school. My students are determined and hard working. They enjoy a variety of learning lessons and activities. Flexible seating options will help those who have difficulty sitting in chairs and working at a traditional desk. Alternative work areas will help them focus and increase their learning.
Flexible seating choices such as balance balls, wobble chairs, floor chairs, and chair bands will promote focus, attention, and an increase of learning!
This is applicable for all students in my classroom. I believe that when students have a choice and can work in a comfortable environment, then they will continue learning. Each child is unique. Some prefer to stand or work on or near the floor. Others need to move around as they work. I understand the special needs students may have.
My Project
Students benefit when they are given the freedom to "wiggle while working". The bouncy bands that attach to the front legs of desks and chairs allow students to move their feet. The balance ball chairs are designed to give students a gentler motion that calms students as they work and learn.
This project will build self-esteem and community no matter what the learning style may be.
The stability stools at a table or at a traditional desk increase height and stability for focused writing. The wobble cushions under their feet can relax students who may be anxious. And the floor chairs give students a blend of chair and floor environment (with back support) as a learning environment option.
