Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. More than half of my students come from low-income households.
One-third of my class is made up of students who receive special education services.
Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school every day eager to learn. Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. A goal of mine is to provide my students with a safe and exciting classroom.
My Project
My classroom is made up of students who are above, on, and below grade level. In order to meet the needs of all my students, it is essential to work in small groups with my students. We utilize a kidney table in my room to meet.
However, with the chairs we currently have, we can only fit 4 students.
Within this project, we are requesting stools in which we could fit seven students at the table!
I am also requesting a laminator and laminating sheets. This will allow me to create daily materials for our centers and laminate them. Laminating the materials will allow them to hold up all year round!
