We are blessed to teach a group of amazing first graders who have such incredible potential. Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Michael, much of that potential has been halted. Many students have lost their homes, their belongings, as well as the many items in their classrooms, a place where they feel safe. Our school had a significant amount of damage, more than anyone originally thought. Due to the damage, many teachers lost classroom materials and items needed to use for daily instruction.
Our students are eager to learn and work very hard in the classroom everyday.
We are in need of your help to give our students the education and instruction they are accustomed to receiving everyday.
We are requesting floor seats for flexible seating and an iPad to encourage academic engagement! Flexible classrooms give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them and helps them to work collaboratively, communicate and engage in critical thinking.
Young students are thinkers and movers!
Students will have the ability to engage and have this flexible seating option while working on the iPad during computer stations or other times throughout the day. Students are learning and engaging in so many activities daily that their little bodies feel the need to keep up. Most children do not “fit” into a traditional classroom learning environment. Technology and flexible seating can go hand-in-hand and help promote positive classroom interactions.
Evolving the classroom space to meet students’ individual needs impacts how they learn, how they interact and the entire classroom experience. Research shows that flexible seating spaces positively affect student participation, engagement and conservation in the classroom.
