Mrs. Sessom from Clarkston GA is requesting reading nooks, desks & storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need flexible seating environment which create empowerment, student choice, leadership, and increase oxygen flow in the brain which help keep young minds more alert and focused.

Math... a universal language that many students are able to achieve and demonstrate success. Learning the English language and phonetics is a task that can be difficult for students that speak other languages. The students in my classroom come from countries such as Nepal, Somalia, Syria, Berma, Ethiopia, and Congo. Indian Creek Elementary school is the neighborhood school where our families feel their child is receiving the best education from some of the best educators. This is where the learning begins for our students and families.
Children need to move and physical activity is linked to higher academic performance as well as social emotional gratification. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm and productive in a student-centered classroom. In my class, I have students that continues to face issues with social emotional development as well as needing areas that allow flexibility and movement. The materials that I am requesting would definitely help my students feel as if they are in control of their learning as well as have control over their bodies. They will have an area to go to when they need a calm place to cool down and use the facial expressions from the rug to describe how they are feeling. Many of my students are from other countries and do not have the language to express what they are feeling. The social emotional rug gives my students the language they need to express what they are feeling as well as find ways on how we can handle the situation. The table would be used for our technology area in our classroom. I have noticed students in my classroom are using the chromebooks in areas where other small group instruction is taking place. Traveling with the chromebooks has also been an issue due to dropping them or mishandling. Having a significant area for students to go to during technology time would be ideal for my classroom. These materials would be an asset to my students growth in learning and development.
