My students are awesome! We have a diverse classroom which encompasses different backgrounds and socioeconomic status. These students come to school and work hard every day. Their hunger for knowledge and the desire to grow as students never cease to amaze me!
I want to be able to provide them with as much comfort and stability as I can during the hours that I see them.
At our school, about 40% of our students receive free and reduced-priced lunch and 42 families are currently benefitting from the Backpack Buddy program which provides students extra food for weekend meals at home.
My Project
When I think of how I learn best, the best option isn't just sitting in a hard chair at a table. I like to be able to move around, rock, or sit back in a comfy chair and get my work done. Many students, my third graders included, are no different-they need to have options for their learning environment.
The ability to provide some physical movement for students to maximize engagement and have some choice in a learning space is critical.
These adjustable floor seats, stability balls, yoga cushions, and portable lap tables allow students to work while moving, strengthening their core, and enabling them to keep their posture maintained.
Many of my students need frequent movement breaks daily. While we do these often, being able to move and choose the type of seating that works best for them is so important in my classroom.
