My fifth grade students are awesome! Fifth graders are in their last year of elementary school and they are wonderfully independent and good leaders in our school. My hope is for every student in my class to be an enthusiastic learner and for them to love school. I know that students have so much potential and I want each student to strive to do their best each day.
I want my students to come to school each day excited to be there and eager to learn.
Fifth grade is such an important year for a child and I want ALL my students to be engaged in learning. Motivating students to want to learn is something that I really strive for and work to find that thing that connects with each student. Some students just have more energy and sitting still in class is hard for them. Stools that wobble and rock can really work for these students. It's a win-win because they can focus and move their bodies at the same time.
My Project
Using core flexible seating stools in my classroom will give my students some seating options. Students will be able to have increased movement and motion and get some of their wiggles taken care of all while still being productive and engaged in their work.
I currently have one of these stools in my classroom and now that I've seen how great they are for students, I would love to provide that option to more students each day.
My school received a new tabletop desk and chairs this year. Unfortunately, the chairs are too big for some students and their feet dangle and don't touch the floor. These stools provide some comfort that they don't get with their regular chair. Students have been sharing the one stool that we have and more stools would offer more options. My students have been using the stool appropriately and are able to move and wiggle and still focus in class. They love the stool and so do I! Now, I would like to have a few more stools so more students can benefit every day.
