I teach 7th grade in a small, rural school district located in southeast Missouri. Our school is a Title I district where many of our students come from low-income households and receive free or reduced lunches.
My students are excited to learn, but many face struggles both in and out of the classroom that make it difficult for them to stay focused during class.
I may not be able to control what happens in their lives outside of school, however, I will do what I can to make their experience at school easier. I have high expectations for my students to achieve, and I want my students to overcome any obstacles that may stand in the way of their success!
In today's 21st-century learning environment, I strive to provide the tools that my students need to be successful learners. Students in my classroom are communicators, collaborators, and creators. I want my students to develop strong 21st-century skills so that they can be ready to compete in our digital society after they finish school. These materials will allow my students to collaborate with their classmates.
In a classroom where the focus is on learning about science while developing 21st-century skills, my students need flexible spaces to work.
The tables and set of stacking chairs will allow my students flexibility to work in small groups, or simply to move around the room while they complete their science projects.
